After Paul Pierce’s 19-year-long NBA career, he launched a CBD brand. Anyhow, it has not always been a comfortable time for the NBA star. In the year 2002, Pierce was stabbed multiple times, a painful event that made him discover CBD for depression, pain, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The harrowing incident left Pierce seriously wounded and with after-effects such as PTSD and anxiety. Remarkably, Pierce survived the incident and competed for his Boston Celtics team in more NBA matches. Pierce did not start coping with his issues with cannabidiol, though. Initially, he took painkillers and sleep medicine for several years. During that period, Pierce did not know about marijuana or even cannabidiol, for that matter.

The consumption of those standard drugs meant that Peirce had to tolerate side effects such as drowsiness. Those negative effects adversely affected Pierce’s game and energy right through the day.

Pierce’s painkillers were opioids, the go-to drugs for almost all Americans back in the day. Those are addictive or habit-forming drugs. So, Pierce reached a stage where he could no longer live without those products. Consuming those badly affected him physically and mentally. Being stabbed multiple times itself would be bad, so you could only imagine how difficult it would be to be on prescription medication for a long time.

Pierce is from LA, which was among the first American places that legally allowed agriculturalists to grow cannabis. There were cannabis stores and dispensaries. Cannabis was so accessible that Pierce even admits that he learned many things about it from the cannabis black market. Many of his friends grew it in their garages, and they tested different things with cannabis flowers and other parts of marijuana.

A friend gave him cannabidiol for the first time, and he felt so good about using it. CBD helped him, so he asked his friend the source of the product. It was the first time he understood a thing or two about what marijuana could do, beyond recreational vaping or smoking.

The laws about CBD for sportspeople were not as lenient as those are now. Therefore, Pierce was concerned about being tested positive for marijuana or THC. That is why he did not consume it at the time of the NBA season to the same extent as in the summertime.

Pierce realizes that many celebrities are now into cannabidiol, including another NBA star Rob Gronkowski.
